PLN subsidiary, PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna (BAG) inaugurated the KM Malahayati Baruna, to secure coal supplies in the Sumatra region.

KM Malahayati Baruna is the 10th BAG ship with a transport capacity of 56 thousand DWT which will be operated directly, specifically to meet the coal transportation needs of all PLTUs in Sumatra. For 2019, the estimated tonnage of transport will reach one million metric tons.

Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said this ship is prioritized to transport coal for PLTUs throughout Sumatra. However, it does not rule out the possibility of serving transportation to other areas.
